Date problem

Hi,

I enter a date in my parameter in the browser like '30/01/2001'. When I press on 'view report' then I get an error. 'An error occurred during local report processing. The value provided for the report parameter 'datum' is not valid for its type.

I think he sees the '30' as a month, so it gives an error. BUT in my SQL-statement i write this : CONVERT(DateTime, @.datum, 103). What's the problem?

Thx

We do validation on parameter values. If you specify the type of this parameter is datetime, it needs to be valid datetime value based on the current culture. You can try changing the parameter type to be string if you don't want the validation.|||

Hi

Does any one know how we can validate the input criteria in reporting server 2005? By saying this I mean to say; let say we have to dates “Start date” and “End date” as criteria to one report. How can I check that the Start date must be lower or equal to the End date?

Regards;
Rakesh

Date parameters with annoying and unwanted Timestamp.

I have two date parameters which will be used as data range in my
report.
But when I enter same date in both date parameter text boxes it appends
the timestamp (12:00:00 AM).
Example: When I enter 07/24/2004 and 07/24/2004 it converts that into
07/24/2004 12:00:00 AM and 07/24/2004 12:00:00 AM.
If I'm generating a report with those parameters I shouldn't get any
data back if I can't take care of that datetime in my stored proc. But
for how many end users do I need to explain and ask them for not to
worry about it when it shows in the front end?
Isn't it really annoying?
Is there anyway to get rid of 12:00:00 AM?The only way is to change the report parameter from date to string.

Date Parameters

Hello,
I have some Reporting Services users who want to setup subscriptions for
reports and enter the current month, trailing 7 days, this week, etc. in the
start and end date parameter fields. Can they do this with code (i.e.
currentdate(-7)) or does this have to be setup as a schedule on the server?
Any assistance is appreciated
Thank you
David Mahler
dmahler@.superwarehouse.comDear David,
I am not sure if I understand your question well, but if you need to
address last week, you may use sql like
select ...
from ...
where date between dateadd(day,-7,getdate()) and getdate().
getdate() will give you current date-time, and dateadd will shift back
7 days.
See dateadd() for more help.
Best Regards,
leecz

I am referrring to the front end web interface where users can setup their
own subscriptions.
The user creates a new subscription for a report. The select the delivery
method, how often the report runs, and other parrameters. When they enter
the Start Date and End Date (might be with the calendar control), could they
enter a getdate(-7) or something like that to run the report for the current
month, trailing week, etc.
My thought is that this may have to be done on the back end. I would hope
that the user can set the report to run every week and get the current week's
data on an automated basis.
Thanks for your help

date output format

Hi,

I have the following problem.

I have made a parametered report where i ask a begin date (@.datefrom) and an end date (@.dateto).

when i enter my dates via the little calendar is see the format dd/mm/yyyy

When i do a preview of report i have a textbox with the following expression :

="Total work time from " & Parameters!DateFrom.Value & " to " & Parameters!DateTo.Value

but the output of the date format is mm/dd/yyyy.

What can i do to have the output format dd/mm/yyyy

Vincent

Hi Vincent,

Try to use

="Total work time from " & CDATE(Parameters!DateFrom.Value).ToString("dd/MM/yyyy") & " to " & CDATE(Parameters!DateTo.Value).ToString("dd/MM/yyyy")

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

This works great.

date input parameter

I have user who are entering startdate and enddate parameters. How can I make
sure that the date the enter is in the mm/dd/yy format? Usally you do this
with javascript. Or can I just do something where I can check the length of
the field.
--
kmatth007well the answer will be devide to 2:
1) on RS2000 where no calander/timepicker is availble you should define this
field as datetime and choose the wright format, then if the user will enter a
wrong date the RS won't load the report.no message avaible...
2)on RS2005 there's a timepicker so it's easy to know the user enter a
wright date.
But as recommanded a lot in this newsgroup the best way 2 controll the user
input is 2 use a .Net application that getts the input from the user and send
it to RS.
